The Solar Rain Pump - Hybrid
The Hybrid version of the Solar Rain Pump is unique in the rain water harvesting industry. This model performs two functions. First, it will automatically pump rain water from your downspout to rain barrels that you have hidden on your property. Then, when you are ready to pump the harvested rainwater to your flowers or gardens, it easily is moved and attached to your rain barrel for this secondary irrigation function. Lets discuss this in greater detail.
The attached picture shows the Hybrid Solar Rain Pump as it sits in a large, attractive deck box. This deck box, supplied by Garden Green, is positioned at the downspout in place of your unsightly rain barrel. In this picture you will note the Solar Rain Pump (model - T ) on the right side, and the rain water catchment on the left side. The rain water catchment is permanently positioned in the deck box enclosure, while the Solar Rain Pump can be lifted in and out as needed. The Solar rain pump is easily connected to the catchment with two water quick connects and one trailer connection.
With the Hybrid system connected, the "auto" switch is activated (see picture). This "arms" the system and when rainwater from the downspout is sensed by the float switch in the catchment, the system automatically pumps rainwater to your remote rain barrels.
A day or two after it rains, you might want to once again irrigate your flowers, shrubs or gardens with the Solar Rain Pump. To do so is simple. Disconnect the two water quick connections and trailer harness from the catchment. Pull the Solar Rain Pump up and out from the deck box. Move the selector switch on the Solar Rain Pump to manual, and hook the Solar Rain Pump to your rain barrel by attaching it to the wand quick connect. Activate the Solar Rain Pump and off you go. The dual purpose Hybrid Solar Rain Pump is innovative, and easy to use. When done irrigating from your rain barrel, just reverse the procedure and return to the deck box to collect more rain water. Plug in the Solar panel to recharge the battery.
To the right is a close up of the three way selector switch on the Solar Rain Pump - Hybrid. It allows the pump to run in "MANUAL" mode where it would pump from a rain barrel to a garden whenever turned on by the user. In the "AUTO" mode it would pump automatically from the downspout of a gutter to remote rain barrels.
