June 2010 - Solar Rain Pump - Timer with Spray Irrigation

We recently completed an installation with a unique spray irrigation system to irrigate a corner flower bed.

Challenges:

55 gallon rain barrel

To the left is the rain barrel installed beneath a downspout off of a garage roof. One rain barrel is installed now with the option for future expansion. A Solar Rain Pump - Timer unit was chosen to allow the client to run the irrigation system from 5-15 minutes.

Irriagtion system spraying the flowers

Instead of installing a drip irrigation system the client opted for a 90 degree sprayer that rotates and sprays the entire flower bed. This irrigation system uses more water per minute than a drip system but only needs to be run for a fraction of the time.

Sprayer's view of the garden

The Solar Rain Pump only needs to run for 5-10 minutes to completely irriagate this flower bed. The sprayer is mounted approximately 3 feet off the ground to give clearance it to irrigate over the plants.
